One year ago, we opened the doors to Synaptic’s new home—a space built on possibility, purpose, and the unwavering belief that people living with neurological challenges deserve more. In just twelve months, we've witnessed incredible moments of resilience and recovery, deepened our partnerships, and expanded access to innovative therapies—all made possible by the people who stand behind us. Whether you’ve been with us from the start or just joined our community, this milestone is yours too. And it’s only the beginning.

As we look back on the past year, we’re filled with gratitude and a renewed commitment to keep pushing boundaries. Because at Synaptic, progress doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens through community, compassion, and shared vision.

Voices from the Clinic: People Who Made It Happen

The past year has been full of growth, but what’s stood out the most are the people who’ve made it all meaningful. Whether walking through our doors for the first time, supporting a loved one, showing up to work every day, or giving back—everyone plays a role in shaping what Synaptic is today. Here are a few voices from our community, sharing what this journey has meant to them:

Community Connections: More Than a Clinic

We’ve focused on building programs that extend care beyond the clinic, meeting people where they are and creating a sense of community that lasts. Through initiatives like Virtual Village and our new Peer Support Program, we’re helping individuals and families feel supported, informed, and less alone—wherever they may be.

Launched in 2021, Virtual Village gives clients and caregivers access to resources, education sessions, and interactive events—all online. It’s become a lifeline for those navigating neurological conditions from home or rural communities. More recently, our Peer Support Program was created to bring people with shared experiences together—offering space to talk, connect, and find encouragement through real conversations with others who understand. These aren’t just programs—they’re communities within our community.

XoMotion™: A New Era of Movement

This year, we were proud to launch the XoMotion™ exoskeleton, a cutting-edge wearable device that supports upright mobility and dynamic walking for individuals with neurological impairments. As one of the few clinics in Canada offering access to this technology, Synaptic is once again pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in neuro rehabilitation.

The XoMotion™ empowers clients to retrain gait patterns, build strength, and experience the physical and psychological benefits of walking—often for the first time in years. Its arrival marks a major step forward in our commitment to innovation, accessibility, and client-led progress.

Be part of the movement—literally. Your support helps more clients access breakthrough technologies like the XoMotion™ exoskeleton, opening up new possibilities for mobility, recovery, and independence.

Building the Future Together

As we celebrate our first year in our new 11,700 sq ft clinic, we’re also taking a moment to reflect on just how far Synaptic has come. From our humble beginnings in 2011—working out of a 1,000 sq ft space—to becoming a leading force in neuro rehabilitation, every step has been shaped by bold ideas, relentless dedication, and the needs of the community we serve.

Over the years, we’ve introduced an expanding suite of advanced technologies, including the Therastride, FES, Hunova, and Xcite systems, each one helping clients reconnect with their bodies in meaningful ways. Since our founding, we’ve delivered over 100,000 hours of therapy, supported more than 13,000 clients, and welcomed 70 team members and 55 students to learn, grow, and contribute. We’ve expanded our care from spinal cord injuries to include over 30 neurological conditions, and introduced essential services like mental health support, virtual rehab, and most recently, peer support.

Looking ahead, we’re focused on continuing to make care more accessible, more connected, and more client-led. Whether it’s expanding mental health resources, deepening community partnerships, or exploring new technology, the future at Synaptic is rooted in everything we’ve built so far—together.
