Brandon's Story

I was hit by a car while walking, which put me in a coma for 4 weeks and left me with with a brain injury that affected my whole right side. During my coma, I felt aware and conscious of things.  I am also now deaf in my right ear and have a hearing aid. Before the injury, I was right-handed but I had to learn to use my left hand because I'm unable to do lots of things with my left. My handwriting is a bit messier now, but I can still read my own writing.

Progress and Goals

I've gotten a lot better since starting here at Synaptic. I came into rehab walking with a cane and leg brace, and now I only use it when I'm exhausted. I'm also now confidently able to get back into skateboarding 🙂

Some of my goals are to keep doing what I’m doing and not regress, and to improve my overall walking endurance and gain strength in all areas.

Favourite Thing About Synaptic

My favourite thing about Synaptic is seeing all the trainers and jamming out to music during my sessions. I love to goof around with all the trainers and getting lots of laughter while working together.

Advice for Others

Don’t give up! Don’t give up on hope and get through it.

Hobbies and More

I love riding my skateboard and doing some crazy tricks. I enjoy spending time with my dog and cat, her name is Milly 🙂

My favourite movie of all time is Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Listening to music is my passion and my favourite artist right now is Quinn. I make rap music as well! Check out my bars on Soundcloud.
