PARTICIPATING
To join, participants need to register through Synaptic’s website, then upon arrival at Synaptic, check-in and complete forms regarding confidentiality and consent, these forms will be required only once per series. A member of Synaptic's training team will attend each meeting, acting as a lead to ensure meetings are beneficial for all. An anonymous survey will be conducted following each session to gather feedback to be used to ensure Synaptic Peer Connect is the best possible experience for participants.

Synaptic Peer Connect provides individuals with shared lived experiences, the opportunity to come together and openly discuss their challenges, failures and successes, share personal stories, and provide mutual support and resources. The group is intended to foster a sense of community and understanding, ensuring mutual respect is at the center of all conversations.Â
The 2024/2025 series will cover a range of topics designed to support individuals affected by neurological conditions and their caregivers. A calendar will be made available with all topics scheduled over the series. Throughout the series, the group will discuss strategies for managing mental health and coping with daily life challenges, such as stress management and dealing with isolation. Symptom management will also be addressed, with a focus on chronic pain, fatigue, cognitive changes, and personal experiences. The series explores relationships and social life, emphasizing navigation of interpersonal dynamics, social inclusion, and combating stigma. It provides support for caregivers, including building networks and maintaining independence. Additionally, it covers engaging in sports and recreational activities, sexual health and intimacy, and bowel and bladder management. Participants can share personal stories, address body image concerns, and discuss traveling with neurological conditions. The series also highlights the use of technology and tools for daily living and offers guidance on advocacy, awareness, and accessibility.
